Nothing is sent without your explicit click on Summarize. The extension has no backend servers, no telemetry, and requires no user accounts.
How it works
When you click Summarize on YouTube, the extension retrieves the selected video’s URL, reads your instructions stored locally in Firefox, and opens Gemini with this information. You can disable automatic submission in preferences; the message is then left ready to send manually.
Data sent to Gemini
- The URL of the YouTube video you chose to summarize.
- The instructions configured in the extension’s preferences, if any.
This information is sent to Gemini only to carry out the action you requested.
What the developer does not collect
- No user accounts managed by the extension.
- No history kept by the extension.
- No statistics or telemetry.
- No cookies added by the extension.
- No content sent to a developer server.
Local storage
Your instructions, extension language, and automatic submission setting are kept in Firefox’s local storage. These preferences are not sent to the developer. Your instructions are sent to Gemini when you explicitly start a request.
Third-party service
Gemini is a Google service. Its use is subject to Google’s terms and privacy policy. Signing in to a Google account may be required to use Gemini.
